Payroll compliance support with changing ANZSCO occupational classifications in Australia and New Zealand

The Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) classifications are being replaced to provide better reporting and more accurately reflect each respective regions labour market.

This software release includes additional code fields to the Position record, which are:

  • OSCA (Occupation Standard Classification for Australia) – updates for Australian payroll software
  • NOL (National Occupation List) – updates for New Zealand payroll software

This supports the latest payroll regulatory changes relating to OSCA & NOL replacing ANZSCO. The existing ANZSCO fields will remain available and unchanged, our team have simply added more flexibility to comply with this change. These additional fields make it easier to align job and position data to evolving standards and ensure accurate payroll reporting across multiple regions. Providing cleaner, more flexible position data support.

Student and Training Support Loan (STSL): Updated ATO Tax Tables for FY2026

A reminder of the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) updated Schedule 8 tax tables reflecting changes to Study and Training Support Loan (STSL) calculations, effective for payments on and after 24 September 2025. We’ve covered everything you need to know about this update and what is STSL in payroll within our recent blog: Changes to Study and Training Support Loan (STSL) Repayments. To incorporate these legislation changes in our payroll software, our expert team have updated the 2025/2026 Tax Rates File, which is now available for customers to import via our EOFY Supporting Documents & Files page.

By making this update to the tax rates file in alignment with the updated STSL component, we are making it easier for our customers to remain compliant with the ever evolving payroll legislation. Through updates like this in our regularly scheduled quarterly releases, we ensure that payroll rules are adheres to the latest ATO requirements so you can focus on business operations.

More control for payroll administrators to perform high security tasks

We have enhanced payroll governance for our cloud payroll customers, by shifting approvals for High Security Tasks to each customer organisation. Examples of high security tasks include:

  • Bulk delete employees
  • Change user password
  • Pay run rollback

Authorised users within Aurion can now grant high security access directly within their cloud payroll platform. Providing payroll teams with faster access when it counts, plus an enhanced audit trail. Improving overall payroll governance and speeding up processes, making payroll easier.

New flexibility for integrated data with new BPA rule sets

We’ve introduced a new API that lets you run BPA (Business Process Automation) rule sets with greater connectivity across business systems, with support for both REST and SOAP. This new Web API accepts flexible input and output parameters and includes helpful new functions, so you can automate routine checks and actions. This makes integrating Aurion with other systems simpler, reduces the need for one-off custom APIs, and helps teams surface key HR & payroll data exactly when and where it’s needed. Unlocking faster integrations with the tools used within the business ecosystem, and surface actionable insights from payroll and HR with ease.

Improved payroll governance with more audit stamps

The rule sets in our Time & Attendance module now display additional user information, giving customers end‑to‑end visibility over configuration changes so any changes can be tracked and recorded. This transparency strengthens governance and reduces risk by making payroll rules auditable against internal controls and external assurance requirements, while also simplifying troubleshooting. All new edits are captured from our Version 11.96 release onwards, providing a consistent audit trail and improved payroll governance.
