The Opportunity

As a key member of our Payroll Services team, a Payroll Consultant is passionate about exceptional customer service and payroll processing excellence. In this rewarding role, you will process pays to a legislative compliance standard for a small portfolio of outsourced Federal Government, State Government, and private sector clients. What you will do

The ideal candidate will have excellent payroll processing, customer service, and communication skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Respond and action all customer requests within agreed service level timeframes.
  • Read, interpret and apply an award or certified agreement to accurately process requests.
  • Understand and apply taxation legislation and guidelines and advise customers accordingly.
  • Perform a combination of both manual and automated pay transactions including but not limited to:
    • Calculate leave liabilities and accruals as per client requirements and in line with the service level agreement timeframes.
    • Calculate and prepare termination payments, redundancies and separation certificates within the service level agreement timeframes.
    • Conduct quality assurance checks on all work undertaken.
    • Complete a Trial Pay that is accurate, quality assurance checked and produced in a timely manner as outlined within the service level agreement.
    • Process, Load and Reconcile Superannuation on a fortnightly, monthly and/or quarterly basis. This is inclusive of uploading to Click Super, ComSuper, Pillar, GESB and QSuper.
  • Ensure working instructions for each customer are up to date and maintained at all times.
  • Complete relevant checklist and data documentation for the purpose of service level agreement reporting, and/or invoicing.
  • Ensure an optimal level of service is provided at all time and continually seek process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide coverage for employee absences and periods of leave as directed by the Team Leader.
  • Recognise and promptly advise Team Leader of potential service delivery problems and/or risks.

Required Skills

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is able to learn and adapt. You must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to work collaboratively as well as independently.

We also require:

  • Skilled in dealing in a dynamic, high volume, and complex transactional payroll environment.
  • Exceptional knowledge of key payroll principles and processes.
  • Strong customer service skills to resolve sensitive and competing payroll enquires while delivering a high level and volume of service.
  • Exceptional knowledge of all or one of federal, state and/or private legislation and standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret conditions of employment that applies to an employee to correctly pay the employee.
  • Understanding of configuration tables or wiliness to acquire knowledge.
  • Able to contribute to a dynamic and growing team environment.
  • Knowledge of Aurion software is an advantage.
  • Ability to use own judgment and take initiative in problem resolution.
